Instructor Training
Instructor pre-entry and training courses will be arranged by GSC when sufficient participants wish to avail of them.
- If run, a two day Pre-Entry course will be run in late September/early October.
- It's hoped that a five day Instructor training course will be run in March / April.
Candidates booking the Instructor training course must ensure they meet the requirements below as they cannot attend the course if not;
- Fully completed pre-entry assessment
- Completed National Powerboat Certificate with a minimum of 20 hours logged.
- Age 17 starting the course or within 6 month following course start date
- Available for the full course duration
- Safeguarding Level 1
- First Aid Certificate
- Garda Vetting (completed & approved)

Important: It will be the responsibility of all course attendees to ensure all Sail Boats and RIB's are ready for use during each course. This must be arranged and managed between attendees. Sail Boats or RIB's not correctly checked and confirmed fit for use, could result in the course not being completed and participants not passing.
Note: Course completion does not guarantee an Instructor position in GSC. The club’s policy is to prioritise Instructors and Sailors who demonstrate consistent engagement in club activities and maintain active participation on the water throughout the sailing season. This approach ensures that opportunities, resources, and support are directed toward those who contribute regularly to the life of the club, uphold its standards, and help foster a vibrant, committed sailing community
